January - March 2008

2007 Blessings; 2008 Opportunities

2007 began with snow and 2008 began with snow in the Denver area.  The snow totals was 29.4 inches for December 2006 and 20.5 inches for December 2007.  WOW.

2007 began a new era for the Homeward Bound Trio.

In November 2006, our founder, bass, and friend retired from the singing ministry.  This change left new responsibilities for Ed and Ron.  2007 began with 0 confirmed concerts and ended with 86 concerts.  2007 began with concerts in 15 states over the last 20 years and ended with 17 states; ministering in Kansas and Minnesota in 2007. And, the best and most important, 2007 ended with many souls being won to the Lord and countless others being restored and encouraged.  We introduced a new song in 2007 titles “Just One More Soul”.  The words give instruction to every Christian that if we can help win just one more soul to Christ, all will be worth our efforts.  So, just keep sharing that Christ is King!

2008 will be exciting as we follow God’s direction and will for the music ministry.

2007 began with Ron recovering from back surgery and without a job.

2008 began still without a job for the McDuffs, but God continues to provide the needs.

One of the greatest parts of 2008 was meeting all the new friends.  One of the new places we went was Pella , Iowa .  There we got to sing for many new folks and met several new groups.   What a great time we had.

Of course, we were humbled to be invited back to many churches we have sung at in the past and would be honored to join with you in worship in the future.  God deserves all the glory and we thank Him for all the many wonderful people we have joined to praise God with this past year.

God has laid it on my heart to tell you that we as a society have a tendency to put the spirit of Christmas behind us when we begin the New Year.  It seems like we close a door and start down a different hallway.  We start the “holiday season” before Thanksgiving, putting up lights and trees and decoration. But when Christmas is over, it seems to be over.  Shouldn’t we give Jesus the same time after Christmas as we do before?

Jesus was born in order to show us how to live a perfect life.  Sadly we tend to stumble and fall from the grace He offers us.  But He provided a way for us to be saved from our sin, by accepting the free gift of God’s love, by admitting we have sinned and accepting Christ as our personal savior.  We want to do it in our own strength but, ‘The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread, and He will be a sanctuary;’ (Isa. 8:13 & 14a) ‘Many will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.’  (ISA. 8:15)  The good news is, if Jesus is your personal savior, if you stumble, He will support you. If you fall, He will help you up. If you break, He will remold you, like the potter and the clay. If you are snared, He will free you and if you are captured, He will set you free.  Like Isaiah said, ‘I will put my trust in Him.’ (Isa. 8:17b).

As we begin 2008, we are open to any opportunity God leads.  We are available for revivals, concerts, worship services, and any other venue.
